Marvel Secret Invasion episode 1 captured Nick Fury’s efforts to restrain a group of renegade Skrulls from taking over the Earth and assigning Talos to save humanity and stop the horrific takeover.
Prescod (played by Richard Dormer) is sure that the Skrulls are on a mission to take over the Earth ruthlessly after thirty years. He meets Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and suggests that the Skrulls are clever this time, and they are creating chaos through terrorist attacks that will push the nations to fight with each other.
Ross banishes Prescod’s claims and clarifies that the Skrulls currently present on Earth are allies who work with Fury. Ross also tells him that Fury is on SABER and that he needs to prove his claims. Prescod has it all covered and proves to Ross by decoding the particulars of an attack, referring to it as “the one that sets the world on fire.”
Secret Invasion Episode 1 is Full of Delusions and Turns
After some counter-agreements, Prescod convinces Ross to communicate to Fury, but he doubts Ross of being a Skrull and captures him. Ross murdered Prescod in the tussle and elopes with the proofs, calling Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) for an extraction.
While he tries to escape the situation, he is followed by an unusual Russian-speaking man, and a solid chase sequence is followed, and Ross falls from a building and lands in front of Maria Hill’s car. Hill attempts to save Ross by pulling the gun on the stranger, but Ross dies and turns into his natural form Skrull, the live proof of the conspiracy. The stranger introduced himself as Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).
Here enters Nick Fury on Earth from a spaceship, now without the eyepatch and walking with a limp. Hill picks up Nick and meets Talos (Charlotte Baker), whose wife, Soren is dead. Talos explains to them how Skrulls has been working for Fury for the past thirty years to make him find a new planet.
Meanwhile, Hill and Nick exchange a friendly interaction. Fury is not the same man after the Blip (reference from Infinity War). Talos informs Fury that his daughter has disappeared and he has been exiled from the Skrull council, which allows another disillusioned young Skrull to rise to power who has a past with Fury, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir).
Gravik is the rebellion leader of the young Skrulls based in Russia. Nobody has any idea where Gravik is, and since the Skrulls are immune to radiation, they have established their bases in the abandoned nuclear plants of the country.
Hill informs Fury about Prescod’s anticipation of a conspiracy led by the Skrull to evoke a war between Russia and America. In scenes at the White House, James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) informs President Ritson (Dermot Mulroney) that Fury left SABER and also Maria and Fury have gone AWOL.
Meanwhile, in Moscow, as Fury walks on the street, he senses the presence of Skrulls in human beings around him, then all of a sudden, he is kidnapped and taken elsewhere.
Introduction of Sonya Falsworth in Secret Invasion Marvel Episode 1
Fury is taken to Sonya Falsworth, a charismatic but absolutely badass MI6 agent. Fury and Sonya undoubtedly know each other and exchange fun banter. Fury confronts Sonya about the heist in Kazakhstan, which Sonya refuses to know, and Fury declares it a lie.
Sonya communicated that he doubts Fury’s ability and believes he has changed after the Snap. Still, Fury says that he has observed the Skrulls closely and knows them better than anybody else. Sonya refuses to collaborate, and Fury leaves the place.
The scene shifts, and we are introduced to a huge premise where a young man (Samuel Adewunmi) approaches the gate, and G’iah (Emilia Clarke) orders him to reveal his true form. After confirming that he is a Skrull, she lets him in. As Hill and Talos anticipated, G’iah calls the premises New Skrullos, which is an abandoned nuclear plant.
Around 500 Skrulls are living, and not all of them are rebels; only the “warriors” are allowed to go out and live as humans and hide their reality as long as possible. G’iah then meets Gravik’s lieutenant Pagon (Killian Scott), who is introducing a new Skrull warrior, Brogan. A shadow watches from above.
The Skrulls bring in a convict (Ben Peel) who is the leader of Americans Against Russia, and Brogans takes his appearance, and then he takes up his mind as well with the help of a machine. Fury, Talos, and Hill got to know that Sonya the Skrulls will use an artist and bomb-builder, Poprischchin (Uriel Emil), to build the bombs.
Sonya plans to capture a Skrull rebel by following him when he comes to pick up the bomb, and Fury wants to cripple her plan by getting to the Skrulls first, which Talos finds uncomfortable.
The Father-Daughter Reunion in Secret Invasion Episode 1
At Skrullos, Gravik got to know that Fury is back on Earth. Gravik is least concerned and all concentrated on the plan to capture Earth. Pagon sends G’iah to pick up the bombs and deliver them to Moscow’s safe house. G’iah heads to fetch the bombs, finds Sonya there and enters from the back side instead.
Hill spots G’iah and follows her, they soon get into a fight, and Talos enters and starts chasing her. G’iah reveals herself and finds out that she was killed by Gravik’s rebels. He asks her to give him the bombs, but she runs away.
On the other hand, Poprischchin is killed by Fury while fighting with Talos. Fury and Hill later join each other for dinner, where Hill asks him why he left the Earth, to which he replies he had a “crisis of faith.” Hill mentions that she doubts Fury’s abilities which makes Fury snap and rethink the whole incident of his death again.
On Skrullos, G’iah delivers the bombs to Pagon. G’iah meets Talos and gives him the exact time and location of the attack. Along with this, she provides him with details about how Gravik has hundreds of people employed, and many of them don’t even know each other.
The next day, Hill, Fury, and Talos track down G’iah and find her passing the bags to two people. Hill follows the one, while Talos follows the other. Fury follows a young girl, whom he anticipated to be a Skrull, who turns out to be Gravik.
While Hill and Talos confront those bags, which were a trap to lure them away, Gravik fixes the actual bombs and accomplishes its mission. The crowd starts to run away, and Gravik takes Fury’s form and shoots Maria Hill. She dies, and Talos pulls Fury away from the blast.
With this heartbreaking and suspenseful end of Secret Invasion marvel Episode 1, we can for sure expect more shocking revelations in the upcoming episodes. Many questions are unanswered, and the future seems dangerous for the people on Earth.
