All the Light We Cannot See Netflix Trailer is here, starring Aria Mia Loerti, Mark Ruffalo Louis Hofmann, and Hugh Laurie in an epic war drama. Directed by Shawn Levy and penned by Steven Knight, All the Light We Cannot See is a four-part limited series to have Netflix streaming in November 2023.
All the Light We Cannot See is an adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s novel of the same name that is sure to live in, learn from and feel bereft over when the last page is turned. It chronicles the story of two teenagers, Marie Laure, a blind French girl, and Werner Pennig, a German boy, who discovers to have a secret connection with each other during the height of World War II.
Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See is a winner of several prestigious awards, including The Pulitzer Prize, The Carnegie Medal For Excellence in Fiction, etc. Ever since its launch in 2014, the book also remained the New York Times Best Seller For Over 200 Weeks, garnered positive responses from the readers and became a commercial success as well.
In the novel written by Anthony Doerr, the story of All the Light We Cannot See reads- Marie Laure lives with her father in Paris within walking distance of the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of the locks. When she is six, she goes blind, and her father builds her a model of their neighborhood, every house, every sewer drain- so she can memorize it with her fingers and navigate the real streets with her feet and cane. When the Germans occupied Paris in June of 1940, father and daughter fled to Saint-Malo on the Brittany coast, where Marie Laure’s agoraphobic uncle lived in a tall, narrow house by the sea wall.
In another world in Germany, an orphan named Werner grows up with his younger sister, Jutta, both enchanted by a crude radio Werner finds. He becomes a master at building and fixing radios, a talent that wins him a place at an elite and brutal military academy and ultimately makes him a highly specialized tracker of the Resistance. Werner travels through the heart of the Hitler Youth to the far-flung outskirts of Russia and finally into Saint-Malo, where his path converges with Marie Laure’s.
Anthony’s imagination of interweaving the lives of multiple characters who, despite all odds, believe in humanity is insane. Not only did the story hit the heart of the readers, but it also drew the attention of renowned filmmaker 21 Laps Entertainment and streaming giant Netflix, only to bring the first television adaptation of the novel.
In March 2019, 21 Laps Entertainment and Netflix purchased the right to produce a limited-run television series of All the Lights We Cannot See, and by September 2021, the official announcement of the four episodic series was finally made.
Since this announcement, readers of All the Light We Cannot See have been intrigued to see how a visual presentation of their favorite novel looks onscreen, who will play the role of Marie, her father, and the German Soldier Werner, and how television series story of All the Light will differ from its novel synopsis and much more. Although there aren’t many revelations of how the events will turn out in Shawn Levy’s direction, All the Light We Cannot See, an official All the Light We Cannot See Netflix Trailer, glimpses what we can expect from the Netflix series as of now.
