The duo of Christophe McQuarrie and Tom Cruise was everything we could ask for to deliver an action ride. As Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) steps into his new impossible mission of retrieving half of a powerful key from his ally Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), he gets to know about “Entity,” a dangerous AI system.

The second half of the key will enable Ethan to control it. From there, Ethan takes the mission in hand to prevent Entity. In the mission, he has the support of his friends Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), along with a frenemy, Grace (Hayley Atwell), who also serves her purpose in finding the keys and controlling the AI.

The story is entertaining but slows down in the execution of the film. McQuarrie, however, has covered this up with jaw-dropping action set pieces and sequences, flaunting every aspect of Tom Cruise as an action hero.

Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt is the USP of the Mission Impossible franchise. From terrific action sequences to convincing acting Tom has left no stone unturned. It doesn’t look like the guy is 61. He has delivered a performance that only elevates the quality of the film.

Hayley Atwell as Grace is the star performer. She steals every scene she has featured in by being Tom’s frenemy and elevating the film’s quality. The antagonist side was a little weak in the movie, but Esai Morales did deliver a decent performance as Gabriel. Ving Rhames as Luther, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa, and Simon Pegg as Benji did their part well. Vanessa Kirby, as Alanna, brings some newness to the film.

Henry Czerny, as Eugene Kittridge, delivers his performance and dialogues impactfully. Pom Klementieff is another highlight performance of the film, and she aced the scenes she was featured in.

Mission Impossible 7 Dead Reckoning – Direction, Cinematography, and Action Analysis

Christopher McQuarrie had done a great job as a director. He knew how to utilize the franchise’s goodwill and Tom’s USP, and he inculcated that very well in the 163 minutes runtime.

From slick action scenes to connecting the emotional dots in the story, McQuarrie has made good use of resources with him. Special mention to the action team of Mission Impossible for the flawless execution of action sequences. Watching the film in IMAX was worth watching as it delivers a lifetime experience.
