So, MCU fans, the wait is over. The first episode of Marvel Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney Plus. It is the first tv series in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the Secret Invasion Marvel series, the story revolves around Nick Fury and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who work together to uncover the conspiracy by a group of renegade Skrulls to gain control of Earth.
The mini-series is a sum of six episodes, every episode of which will be released weekly on Wednesday. And before you start watching all of them, you need to watch the 12 MCU films listed in the article today.
As you know, all Marvel films are a part of MCU’s shared universe; it will be confusing for one to understand the Secret Invasion story without knowing its past through previous Marvel movies.

1. Iron Man (2008)
I am Iron Man. Do you think you’re the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you’ve become part of a bigger universe. You just don’t know it yet. That’s what we heard from Nick Fury when he first appeared in the post-credit scene of 2008’s Iron Man. He addressed himself as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., who has come to talk something about the Avengers Initiative with Tony Stark/Iron Man.
2. Iron Man 2 (2010)
While with Iron Man 1, we got a few minutes with Nick Fury; with the film’s sequel, Samuel L Jackson ensured to establish his character prominently. In 2010’s Iron Man, Nick Fury sends Natasha Romanoff to check on Tony Stark and analyze whether he is perfect for the Avengers Initiative.
During his inspection, Nick even helps Stark with his palladium illness, and by the end of the superhero flick, Nick Fury hires Iron Man as a consultant for Avengers Initiative.
3. The Avengers (2010)
As the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury brings Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Thor, and Clint Barton together to trace Loki through their team research and stop him from dominating the planet Earth.
4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was indeed an amazing experience. Nick Fury, again, as the S.H.I.E.L.D. director, tries to uncover something brewing in Project Insight. He even fakes his death in the mission. Captain America and Black Window also join to know why and how S.H.I.E.L.D. is compromised and ends up confronting an assassin.
5. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
In the world of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Nick Fury joins to help and motivate the Avengers team to stop Ultron from harming mankind. Ultron is the Artificial Intelligence created by Tony Stark and Bruce Wanner to cause human extinction and bring peace to the world.
However, as things go awry, Fury interrupts to help Avengers in the compound. Maria Hills, whom you will all see dying at the end of Marvel Secret Invasion episode 1, also gives a prominent appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
She helps the Avengers defeat the remaining Hydra cells and stop Ultron from devastating humanity. Later, she also helps them build their new headquarters.
6. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
While Nick Fury didn’t appear in Captain America: Civil War, the CIA Agent Everett Ross, played by Martin Freeman, arrives in the film. He is the Deputy Task Force Commander of the Join Counterterrorism Center who attempts to catch Bucky Barnes, a suspect in bombing the Vienna International Center.
Ross later supervises the Avengers to prison the real culprit Helmut Zemo. You will see Everett Ross in the Marvel Secret Invasion opening scene. However, by the end of the episode, it is revealed that the one everyone sees as Everett Ross is a Skrull. The whereabouts of the real Everett Ross are still unknown in Marvel Secret Invasion.
7. Black Panther (2018)
In the next superhero flick, Black Panther Everett Ross arrives again as the CIA Agent; this time, he is on the hunt for Ulysses Klaue. To complete this assignment by the CIA, Ross seeks the help of the Wakandans, who is hunting the same guy Ross is.
Wakandans want to get the Vibranium back from Klaue. Hence they are allying with Ross. In the process, when Ross takes a bullet and eventually shot on Nakia, Shuri heals his injury in Wakanda.
During the mishap, when Ross shares the backstory of Erik Killmonger’s military force, which freed Klaue, he also helps the Wakandans stand firm against the mighty Erik Stevens, aka Erik Killmonger.

8. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Truly an infinity far, this Avengers sequel provides a few minutes with Nick Fury and Maria Hills in the end credits. In the video clip, Fury and Hills get an alert about the mishap at Wakanda.
As they try to gather more information about the event, a car with no driver crashes into it. Unaware of Thanos’s deeds of eliminating half of the universe’s inhabitants, Fury sees Hills vaporizing.
As he, too, begins to vaporize, he quickly sends a message to Captain Marvel through a communication device that displays his Star logo confirming the message is received by the superhero.
9. Captain Marvel (2019)
The 2019 Captain Marvel introduces Skrulls, the shapeshifting alien, as someone misunderstood by people. In the 2023 Marvel Secret Invasion, they arrive as the new villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The character Talos, a Skrull, and his wife Soren work with Nick Fury and Captain Marvel to fight against Kree, who destroyed their planet Skrullos, eventually leading them to seek shelter on Earth.
10. Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame, the biggest MCU film so far, sees the return of Nick Fury and Maria Hill, who were vaporized because of Thanos’s mishap.
11. Spiderman: Far From Home (2019)
In Spiderman: Far From Home, the duo you see as Nick Fury and Maria Hills are revealed to be Talos and Soren in disguise, as the real Fury is busy commanding a Skrull Spaceship. In Far From Home, Talos and Soren help Peter Parker/Spiderman defeat the fake Elemental attacks planned by Mysterio by disguising themselves as Nick and Maria. However, by the end, their true identity is revealed.
12. Black Panther Wakanda Forever (2022)
No one can forget this journey when Wakandans got their new Black Panther in Shuri. In the sequel of Black Panther, we get a third-time appearance from Everett Ross, the CIA agent who has something to share about Ironheart/Riri Williams with the Shuri and Okoye.
He also updates the Wakandan Queen Ramonda about Shuri’s disappearance when she holds Okoye responsible for the same. Later, when Ross discovers the US President is planning to make Wakanda a dangerous place, he secretly enters the National Security Agency to disrupt the government’s plan of making a Vibranium detector.
Subsequently, his efforts to help the Wakandans and share Ironheart’s information with them led to his arrest. However, before the CIA Director and Ross’s ex-wife can send him to Prison, Okoye arrives to free him from the punishment resulting in him reaching the state of Secret Invasion.
