Yes, sadly, but our wait has just got longer. The Jonathan Majors starrer Avengers: Kang Dynasty will not hit theatres on its said date. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty release date is now pushed to a year ahead amidst the ongoing writers’ strike and Jonathan Majors Controversy.
Now, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will release on 1st May 2026 instead of 2nd May 2025. Marvel Cinematic Universe President Kevin Feige has also confirmed the news quoting the MCU release delays will give them an edge to improvise the content output and stand above the competition.
What is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty All About Marvel Delays Recently?
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the 42nd installment in Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Jonathan Majors starrer film is a sequel to The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and Loki Season 2.
While the official plot for the multiverse film is not finalized yet, the possibilities are Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will adapt the storyline from the comic book titled Kang Dynasty.
A sequel to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Avenger: Secret Wars will also see its theatrical release on 7th May 2027. Secret Wars will see a major crossover of all superheroes and supervillains, which all Marvel fans are excited about.
This crossover is planned to conclude the MCU Phase 6 projects titled the Multiverse Saga.

Who is the Cast and Crew of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Meanwhile, Jeff Loveness, who was signed to script the Kang Dynasty film adaptation, reportedly stepped back from the project before the WGA strike.
While Jeff Loveness has not disclosed the exact reasons for stepping back from Kang Dynasty, he has revealed the film is going in another direction, and he is not a part of it anymore. Thus, the hunt for new writers is still underway at Marvel Studios.

When is Will Filming for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Start?
Given the ongoing writers’ strike and Jonathan Majors controversy, Marvel Studios is hoping to start the camera rolling of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in Spring 2024.
However, taking into account that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is still hunting to finalize its cast and crew members, this production period may see a delay.
Since Jeff Loveness departed from the project after the poor response to Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, Marvel Studios is now left with no choice but to wait for the writers’ strike to shut down soon.
However, if this longstanding battle stretches for a prolonged period, it is likely that Marvel delays production for its most awaited and hyped project, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Another major factor that can be an obstacle to the filming of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the controversial allegations against the major MCU villain Kang aka Jonathan Majors.
Since March 2023, Jonathan Majors has been geared around controversies of assaulting his alleged girlfriend in Manhattan, New York. And, since the court has not declared Majors innocent, Marvel Studios and other known banners professionally associated with him have put all their projects on hold.
Knowing that Majors has a huge role in Phase 5 and Phase 6 projects, it is necessary for Marvel to wait for the judiciary’s decision and continue the Kang Dynasty production when Majors comes clean.
Now only time will tell the tale of what lies in the fate of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and how Marvel will fix its multiverse timelines stories amidst the writer’s strike and Jonathan Majors controversies.
