House of the Dragon Episode 8: The Preparation For the War Has Begun!

House of the Dragon Episode 8
Hey folks, welcome to another episode of House of Dragon, and here we have brought you a spoiler of this American fantasy show. In House of the Dragon Episode 8, a king and a powerful lord wait for a Death visit as their respective families continue their debate over who should take their throne.
Deaths in the Kingdom play a significant role in the previous instalments of House of Dragon. It may not be rare for the show characters to rearrange all the pieces of the titular game ever started with the Game of Thrones universe, but we haven’t seen a huge impact of someone’s demise in the 7th and 8th Episode. While the 7th Episode, i.e., Driftmark, showed pleasantries after one’s death, the 8th Episode, i.e., The Lord of the Tides, surrounds what should be done to get a visit from the Stranger.

Vaemond Velaryon Claims To Be the Next House Velaryon!

House of the Dragon Episode 8

The 8th Episode of House of Dragon starts with Rhaenys telling about Corlys, who has not returned from the battle he went to fought six years ago, and any of his information has been received to date. While she instructs the commanders to find Corlys, Vaemond Velaryon tells her that his brother Corlys is capable enough to protect himself. Still, if he is not fine, then she (Rhaenys) should give the King’s place to someone as she is only temporary.
Rhaenys replies that Corlys wants his grandson Luke to take over his place. Vaemond responds that he deserves the place more than anyone else in the Kingdom while questioning Luke’s parentage, especially his father.
Proclaiming himself the closest kin and only male heir of Lord Corlys, he wants to take the position of House Velaryon and proceeds to present his case before the Queen and the King.
Here, despite having too many dogs in the fight, Rhaenys wants to respect her husband’s wish, while she also blames Daemon and Rhaenyra for Laenor’s death. There are also possibilities she would attempt to make Driftmark for Baela (her granddaughter) and herself. However, in the end, she stands by Rhaenyra and proposes to betroth Luke and Jacaerys to Baela and Rhaena.
While in the previous Episode, Rhaenyra has already said that she won’t claim the Driftwood Throne, Vaemond is still pissed about the King’s verdict. He expresses his rage towards Rhaenyra and his two sons by sending Daemon and Rhaenyra a letter.
This is a punishable crime where Vaemon’s tongue should be cut off, but I guess he isn’t fortuned enough. Before anyone can take action against Vaemond, Daemon reaches him and cut his head with his sword. But, the moment is not as shocking for us as we have expected after watching the House of the Dragon.

The Targaryens Have a Last Meal

House of the Dragon Episode 8

Post the death of Raymond; tensions are running high in the Driftmark. Rhaenyra and Alicent also continue their silent war. The Queen is irked with Prince Aegon, who has turned a complete maid-rapist after he wed Helena, and Prince Aemond is searching for Luke as he has lost his eye because of the boy. After six years, the fully grown and badass Aemond is only waiting for the right time to get back at his nephew.
Knowing that Luke is graduated from Daemon’s school, you should not mistake pushing your luck with him. Still, being a family, after all, the Targaryens put their difference aside to have one last meal with the ailing patriarch.
Though it’s an awkward but heart-warming moment for the Game of Thrones world, King Viscerys makes a speech on family staying together when Rhaenyra and Alicent find a thing to complement each other. Despite everyone trying to make some adjustments, Aegon finds the time to be bitchy, but this time even he can’t spoil the moment. Everyone looks happy until the King is carried back to his room.
The celebration ends with Aemond complimenting Luke on being so strong post his uncle’s death and Rhaenyra agreeing to stay in the Kingdom after Alicent requests her to do so.
But this time, the Alicent Rhaenyra would see isn’t the same she was some years ago. Further, King tells about Aegon’s dream to his wife Alicent, but she could not get it properly. But as soon as he tells Alicent that she should unite the realm, she leaves the bedroom with some thoughts clicking in her mind. On the other side, King Viscerys experiences unbearable pain and dies. With this, the House of the Dragon Episode 8 concludes it’s this week’s instalment.

Verdict

House of the Dragon Episode 8

The Lord of the Tides is an uneventful instalment that didn’t match the bar set by previous episodes of House of Dragon. However, it is surely an important episode that has given us an idea of what we can expect in its 9th instalment. No one to date is thrashed in the wedding, all children keep their possession of eyes, and once again, all pieces of the titular game are rearranged. Lord Corlys is not in the frame but can also be the next King. It seems like Rhaenyra will take control of the Driftmark and its fleet, and Alicent assumes that she knows a secret of the realm, which she didn’t get right.
The kids are all grown up now, and the next generation will now symbolize the strengthening of the political alliances formed. Many things are at stake now, and what’s happening on-screen is unmoving.
The House of the Dragon director Geeta Vasant Patel deserves applause for the last scene. The King whispering- No More is heart-rending, and the camera work and lighting adds to the emotional touch of the stage.
Despite the darkness reflecting King’s isolation and pain, it’s hard to say that he has received the most-awaited visit from the Stranger- the one who calls upon a lord. But from now on, we won’t see him again, which was a distressing adieu.

Consequently, the eighth episode of House of Dragon has ended an era where Westeros’s men have prompted all the actions. With House of the Dragon episode 9 confirming the king’s death, we all should be ready to watch violence, bloodshed, and betrayal.
