Forest Gump and Sweet Home Alabama actor Bob Penny died on Christmas day. Bob Penny was best known for his appearances in Forest Gump, Sweet Home Alabama, Mississippi Burning, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and My Cousin Vinny. The actor passed away at his residence on 25th December 2022. Bob Penny age was estimated 87 at the time of his death. 

Other than Bob Penny movies work, the actor had also done various television projects, which include Speed Dating for the Bereaved, Still the King, Dropped, Drop Dead Diva, Skyhook and so on. Alabama College Professor and actor Bob Penny dies at 87, confirms The Birmingham Festival Theatre Bob has worked in. Although, Bob’s cause of death is not disclosed in his obituary. He was born in Anniston in 1935 and won various acclaimed awards for his acting, teaching and poetries. These include Ellen Gregg Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching and more. For the Ellen Gregg Ingalls Award, Bob received six nominations in a row. 

For his poetry in Prologues to Home, Bob was awarded the Birmingham Festival of the Arts Silver Bowl Award in 1980. After that, in 1996, the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Awarded him with the Applause Award for his valuable contributions to theatre. 

Subject to his film appearances, Bob Penny appeared in Sweet Home Alabama, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Forrest Gump, My Cousin Vinny, The Rosa Parks Story and more. The actor also played a prominent role in the NBC series In the Heat of the Night. 

When Bob Penny was doing films, he remained active in theatre plays, for which he also took part in The Odd Couple and Don Juan in Hell.  Reminiscing Bob’s work, Rhonda Erbrick, chairwoman of the Birmingham Festival Theatre pens- Bob Penny captivated all of our hearts at Birmingham Festival Theatre and put his all into his work.
