Captain Marvel 2 officially titled as The Marvels is the third and final Marvel film of 2023. Starring Brie Larson, Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as the main protagonists, Captain Marvel 2 will see the trio saving the universe’ as The Marvels.
Reshoots for the upcoming Marvel film are paused amidst the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strike. Scheduled to hit theatres on November 10, Captain Marvel 2 (The Marvel) might release a week earlier following a shift in Dune 2 release which was originally set to release a week before The Marvels. Since the science fiction film, received an IMAX screening for the November 3 release, possibilities are higher, now Brie Larsons’ The Marvels will grab that position in cinemas.
An official trailer of Captain Marvel 2 is already released by Marvel Studios on July 21, featuring the cosmic team of the three Boss Girls. The trailer video received a mixed response from fans with many complaining about no insights by the film’s cast. Abide by the strike rules, The Marvels actor are unable to participate in their film’s promotional campaigns or offer any insights to fans on their upcoming superhero film. The SAG and WGA strike is also delaying the re-shoot work of The Marvels.
Is the Captain Marvel 2 Release Date Changed?
While Disney Plus has kept the Captain Marvel 2 release date as announced by the MCU head Kevin Feige which is November 10, despite Dune 2 leaving a prior week’s release date slot.
All other Marvel titles that made a change in its release date were the most hyped Thunderbolts, Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, Blade, Fantastic Four, Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While development of these MCU flicks are underway, if the actors’ and writers’ strike continues, its more likely that their current release date will be shuffled again and we in no case want that to happen.
Interestingly, as Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 release date was pulled back to May 3, previously set for a September release, fans are expecting the same case with Brie Larsons’ Captain Marvel 2 Release Date.
The reason for their expectations lies in the delay of Dune 2. As Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer Dune 2 has pushed to 2024, fans believe Captain Marvel’s sequel’s November 3 release will let the film to offer an immersive experience through IMAX screening availability. The November 3 release for The Marvels will also give the superhero film an opportunity to avoid a competition with The Hunger Games: The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes.
Although, since Disney Plus and Marvel Studios have not reached to a decision of pulling back Captain Marvel 2 release date, its still uncertain whether we The Marvels release date change for the fifth time.
Apart from The Marvels, another 2023 film that is likely sticking to its announced release date is Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. That might be because the film had already faced several delays. Set for December 20 release, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be DCEU’s last film for the year.
